Giving Flight Blog Hop

The Fly Tribe came together as a bunch of individuals looking to learn a bit about what it meant to run a creative business. We came together to take Kelly Rae Robert's Flying Lessons. Along the way, we made some friends, we supported one another's dreams, we lifted one another up when difficulties (in business and life) threatened to get the better of us. We didn't just learn to "Take Flight" (as Kelly Rae's course suggests). We learned to Give Flight to one another.

Now with one year of soaring under our wings, we want to share the love.

     We have been thinking of YOU. We have been thinking about the dreams you have, the places where you are feeling stuck and wish you just had some direction. We remember wishing we had a someone we could work through the big creative business questions with.
     Last year, we signed up for Flying Lessons with Kelly Rae Roberts. The class gave us direction. It put a frame around some of the chaos we felt in trying to do it all on our own. It gave us courage, and it gave us others creatives to connect with. It gave us wings.
    When our first anniversary came around at the same time as Kelly Rae's very last Flying Lessons class, we wanted you to know exactly how we felt. We wanted you to have a chance to (as Kelly Rae says) "help your creative biz soar."

Give-Away Guidelines

We are so happy you want to be considered for one of the 16 class spots Kelly Rae Roberts Flying Lessons. Here are the guidelines.

1. To participate in the Flying Lessons Give-Away, please leave a comment below.

3. One entry per person.
4. To be fully considered, make sure to leave an email that will allow us to contact you in the event that you win.

The Fly Tribe is celebrating a year since we came together for Kelly Rae Roberts' Flying Lessons. Along the way we have taken what we learned during the class and put it into use in a variety of ways. Some started blogs, others got published in magazines, some opened stores for their creative wares, and some kept doing what they were already doing, but a bit better. Whatever we did though, we found that we weren't doing it alone. We really did find a tribe in the class. 

We found a community filled with new friends. We supported one another as we walked through the fear of reaching for success. We even supported one another when life got us down. Especially when it got us down...or sent challenges that felt bigger than us. We found a sisterhood. 

As the first anniversary of the 2011 Flying Lessons class comes around, our private Facebook group is abuzz with remember-when's, with gratitude, and thoughts of what the coming years will bring. 

One thing we know for sure is that we want to make our anniversary about celebrating the spirit of giving that has been such an important part of our journey this year. So for the month of August, we are focusing on giving. Check back on the 20th to find out just how we are doing that...as individuals and as a group. Love of Art Blog Party

As you may have heard, the Fly Tribe sent out invitations earlier this month to two other groups of artists/creative biz owners to have them join us in exploring what we all love about art. We are thrilled today to welcome to the party members of the 2010 Flying Lessons class as well as the participants in Hello Soul Hello Business.

 If you are one of our readers, we would also be delighted if you would add to our party by writing a post about what YOU love about art and use the linky below to join in. But even if you don't, we hope you will receive the gifts this party offers.  Many of us believe that the very individuals who are tucked in and among the bloggers/artists in this collection will be the next wave of inspiration in the world of creativity. Cordially Invited to Party

You know when you meet a few new friends and realize you have a lot in common? Well, it just seems that sparks begin to fly! And before you know it, someone says, "We should get together!"

The Fly Tribe's FB Group (which was designed as an incubation station for all the dreams we hoped to hatch through Kelly Rae Roberts' Flying Lessons e-course) is a tight knitted group. We have each other's back in building our art businesses , as well as for the ups and downs of life. But we have been enjoying making new friends around the art community, spreading our wings, so to speak.

Recently, the FT has been chirping with excitement over a project Kelly Rae was offering with a member of her first Flying Lessons group, Beth Nicholls. Hello Soul Hello Business (which is now in its third week) offers a revolutionary way of approaching business. It has given some of us the opportunity to get to know the Fly Alumni from the first group who are taking HBHS and to meet up-n-coming movers and shakers in the creative biz arena.  So we decided to reach out to its members, as well as members of the first Flying Lessons group and, well, have a good ole fashioned get together!

It is in that spirit that the Fly Tribe has designed and is hosting the Love of Art Blog Party. 

The Invitation

If you are a Fly Alumni member from either of Kelly Rae's classes or are currently taking the Hello Soul Hello Business's  Business Soul Sessions, we want to offer a special invitation to visit us and leave a link to a post about your Love of Art.  As always, our readers are welcomed to the party (start thinking about what you want to write about...or what bit of art you might like to share). WordHop 2012

The FlyTribe is excited to share another blog hop with you.  Around the end of last year, several Fliers began sharing the words they had chosen as their guiding word for the new year. As artists and creatives, we work together to inspire each other, so organizing a blog party around the words we were choosing to be our teachers for 2012 just felt right.

Choosing a word to lead you through your year became a trend in blogging several years ago when Ali Edwards began sharing her One Little Word journey through out the year.  She found that it is a simple but powerful way to bring meaning to your life.  Her one little word has now taken off and grown into a movement, a movement we are excited to take part in.

Below is a list of posts by FlyTribe members and our guests who are creating their lives with their own little words. We hope you will join us as we adventure through the landscape of the web to support the writers' journeys and to be inspired by them. You can expect that over the course of the year these artist/blogger might share posts that follow the insights offered by their word, including works of art that specifically explore what their word has come to mean to them.

Welcome to the FlyTribe

Hi, my name is Rae Payne, and today I am one voice pulled from a group of 378 creative entrepreneurs who make up the Fly Tribe. This summer something phenomenal happened in our lives.  I am sure each of us has our own version of the story and perhaps over time, you will be able to find those stories here, but the most important part of the story is that a lovely artist and creative business luminary, Kelly Rae Roberts, offered an e-course called flying lessons designed for those interested in growing their creative business, and each of us signed up. Before we knew it, as individuals, our businesses were moving forward, and, as a group, we were moving closer together.  

We named ourselves the Fly Tribe because we literally had a sense of taking off and flying together.  This space is our way of sharing the gift we have been given with the world.  We hope to offer glimpses into our experiences as artists and business owners, along with tips, tools, and opportunities to create with us.   Welcome to the Fly Tribe, get ready to spread your wings!
